Turn your burnout into a breakthrough
Specialist therapy for ADHD and autistic adults recovering from burnout
On paper, your life might look successful.
You meet your deadlines. You support those around you. You keep going no matter what.
But underneath, you’re battling overwhelm, burnout, perfectionism and the constant effort of masking who you really are.
Many of my clients come to therapy wondering why life seems harder for them than it does for everyone else.
Through working with me to explore the impact of neurodivergence, trauma and life experiences on your nervous system I can help you break the patterns that have been keeping you in survival mode and start building a life that feels sustainable and brings you joy.

Hi, I’m Emily.
I specialise in supporting neurodivergent adults who are exhausted from holding everything together.
Many of my clients are intelligent, capable people who appear to be coping on the outside, but privately struggle with burnout, overwhelm, perfectionism, anxiety or the lasting impact of trauma.
Before retraining as a therapist, I spent 20 years working in public policy and now work for a national autism charity. I also have ADHD myself, giving me both professional and lived experience of navigating a world that often feels demanding, overwhelming and exhausting.
My approach combines counselling, trauma-informed practice and nervous system regulation to help clients understand themselves more deeply and create lasting change.
How I can help
Through counselling or therapeutic coaching sessions I can work with you to uncover what’s holding you back, identify your goals and help you move forward. Together we can unlock the best version of you.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Is this coaching or therapy?
In a word, both. My aim is to enable you to identify and achieve your goals utilising coaching skills but my approach is primarily therapeutic, in that I work with the beliefs that have been guiding you and your emotional responses to help you attain those goals. This is because I believe you need to understand the barriers blocking your progress in order to move forward.
How does it work?
The basic premise of any therapeutic or coaching relationship is trust. It is fundamental to feel a sense of trust with a therapist in order to make progress. When you are able to trust the therapist it creates a sense of safety to be able to open up and share thoughts, feelings or actions that you may feel embarrassed about, this is a good thing! By experiencing the therapist’s response – which should be empathic and non judgmental – you can start to move beyond the things that have been holding you back. As an example you may have felt so ashamed about previously being sacked that you cannot admit you don’t understand a technical aspect of the job. Without being able to talk about it, because of the shame and embarrassment, you may be tempted to maintain that you did nothing wrong, meanwhile you will be unable to seek training or learn how to do the job better in future, and may experience anxiety or imposter syndrome in future employment. However if you are able to talk about this experience in therapy you will likely feel safe enough to admit your mistakes and try a different approach in future, allowing yourself to seek out the training or support you need and feeling more confident to approach future employers for example.
Ultimately, if you don’t feel trust or safety with the therapist then you may simply need to try a different therapist or a different type of therapeutic intervention. There are many different types of therapy and many different therapists and you will be able to find a good fit.
What kind of problems can you help me with?
While I work with a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, I have particular expertise in supporting neurodivergent adults, burnout, shame, chronic overwhelm, identity following diagnosis, and the impact of trauma.
How many sessions will I need?
It really depends on what you want to achieve and how ready you are to uncover the beliefs and behaviours that may have held you back in the past. For some a small number of sessions may feel enough to deal with one issue that you have become ‘stuck’ on sufficiently to move forward. For others there may be a desire to dig deep and work on multiple issues. It is important to know that I am governed by the BACP Ethical Framework and committed to supporting your autonomy. What this means in practice is that I must ensure your sessions with me are bringing maximum benefit. Although we can discuss progress and how the sessions are supporting you at any time, I build in reviews at 6 weekly intervals to ensure you are getting what you want and need from our work together
What do you know about neurodivergence?
I have a wealth of experience in neurodivergence. Before retraining as a therapist I had a 20 year career in public policy working with national charities and government on systems changes including support for neurodivergent people. I also have an ADHD diagnosis myself. I have undertaken specific training to understand the most common neurodivergent conditions and have benefited from specialist coaching to support me personally. I understand the impact of late diagnosis and the highs and lows experienced when living with a neurodivergent condition. I aim for a neuro-affirming and trauma-informed approach to working with any neurodivergent person.
Why Grit + Growth?
I believe when you bring grit plus a willingness to grow to any aspect of your life you can reap incredible rewards and experience greater joy, contentment and vitality. Grit is the ability to continue pursuing a goal regardless of how difficult it gets and growth is all about pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone and being willing to do things that might feel scary and uncomfortable in the pursuit of developing new skills and perspectives.
Do you only work with men and neurodivergent people?
No! Not at all. I work with men, women, trans, non-binary and just about any other human who wants me to. My passion is working with people with an innate (but sometimes deeply buried) drive to become the best version of themselves.
